When it’s time to celebrate the Hubby

When it’s time to celebrate the Hubby

I love date night

This is why this post is special to me… My husband knows how to wine and dine a gal. When he plans a date he goes the full mile, and it’s amazing! So when his birthday landed on a Tuesday, which is not the greatest party night (outside of college), I knew I wanted to take him out. It was MY turn to take him on a romantic date and I was soooo excited.

I spent more time planning this night more than I did for the 2 parties following that week. So I decided to take him to a small waterfront restaurant, Toma. It’s so small that if you blink you’ll miss it. But the atmosphere was so charming, the tables set with white linen, the proper fancy utensil set-up, and a really good menu! I’d never been there before, so I was excited that we would discover a new place together.

Life is always better with a martini!

Needless to say, it was so lovely! The service was friendly and quick! As soon as we finished a plate it was whisked away! We started with martinis and a unique (and delicious) ahi cone appetizer.

I don’t know what they did to make the sesame cones, but it was so delicious! There was a little sweetness to off-set the ahi, and it had a nice light crunch. Not to mention that it didn’t crumble apart on me and make a mess… That was nice since I already make a mess with my food as it is… Don’t judge me!

There’s one dish I’ve been curious to try for years now… Morelli. Black Spaghetti. It’s pasta made with squid ink but then served with seafood in a white wine sauce. Well, I tried it and I loved it! You can’t taste the ink, it’s more like seafood with pasta. The sauce was light and refreshing, the seafood had great flavor and was so fresh! Which is expected in a beach town, but lovely all the same.

Matt ordered seared scallops that were to DIE for! Perfectly opaque, nice browned sear, and great flavor. Not to mention the presentation was spot on.

I’m so glad that we were able to try something new, and now we have another go-to place on our list to revisit!

Cheers!
